Health Care Innovation in Social Context
The Challenge
An NGO focusing on health care services to HIV positive patients wished to extend its services to the healthy population by creating a one-stop shop, from the visit to the GP, laboratory testing and final diagnosis all under one roof. However, setting up such an enterprise proved more challenging than expected due to a multitude of stakeholders, complexity of the social context, and the need for a viable business model and execution strategy.
Approach
A strategy consulting approach included field visits, stakeholder interviews and direct discussions with the client in various settings followed with workshops to shape the strategy.
Outcome
- Two scenarios were developed defining opportunities and risks for each.
- Further discussions enabled the project owner to take an informed decision and mitigate potential risks while capitalising on opportunities.
